]]> The American Water Works Association is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water. Founded in 1881, the Association is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world. 

Our membership includes over 4,300 utilities that supply roughly 80 percent of the nation’s drinking water and treat almost half of the nation’s wastewater. Our 51,000 total members represent the full spectrum of the water community: public water and wastewater systems, environmental advocates, scientists, academicians, and others who hold a genuine interest in water, our most important resource. 

AWWA also takes great pride in helping establish two preeminent organizations dedicated to safe water, the Water Research Foundation in 1966, Water For People in 1991 and Water Equation in 2015. AWWA unites the diverse water community to advance public health, safety, the economy, and the environment.

]]> The Alliance for PE Pipe is composed of leaders in the HDPE pipe industry who are committed to the advancement of PE pipe in municipal water systems.  Their goal is to help American and Canadian municipal leadership realize the real-world benefits and long-term cost-effectiveness of using PE pipe.  

The PE Pipe story is so incredibly compelling that the Alliance commits itself to regular educational events for municipal leadership, field staff, consulting engineers, and utility contractors.  The Alliance meets face-to-face with over 3,000 of these people annually to share knowledge on the features and benefits of the pipe and related equipment. Many of these meetings include a demonstration of the HDPE fusion process, and this demonstration gives people a fresh take on the old problem of fix and break, fix and break pipe.

]]> With administrative offices located in Dallas, Texas, The Plastics Pipe Institute Inc. (PPI) is the major trade association representing all segments of the plastics piping industry. PPI members share a common interest in broadening awareness and creating opportunities that expand market share and extend the use of plastics pipe in all its many applications. As an association, PPI focuses collaborative efforts to accumulate data, concentrate facts and target resources toward advancements in applications and increases in widespread usage.

PPI serves as a channel for information sharing, issues resolution, idea exploration and successful implementation guidance. The association is dedicated to advocacy and outreach efforts in support of these goals, and strives to expand the scope of overall education by broadcasting the many benefits and features of polyethylene pipe. The association is comprised of approximately 300 members and associates.

PPI promotes contemporary use of plastics piping for water and gas distribution, sewer and wastewater, oil and gas production, industrial and mining uses, power and communications, duct and irrigation.

PPI vision and leadership resulted in the establishment of uniform testing and design criteria which became the foundation for all current applications of plastics piping. In addition, the methodology for the rating of long term material strength and the adoption of standard preferred numbers to state specific properties were early PPI achievements. PPI also engineered the first code of acceptance for plumbing, industrial, commercial and gas distribution.
