Factory Manager

Responsibilities

Behavior

Production

  • Manage production.
  • Ensure quality of the production.
  • Implement strategies that ensure safe and efficient job execution in terms of Planning, Design and Execution for orders, extrusion, printing, cutting, rewinding, molding, crushing activities.
  • Manage the production in a safe manner
  • Set priorities for optimal resource allocation for production as per Job Cards.
  • Efficiently utilize materials to prevent overuse.
  • Ensure full utilization of equipment and non-stop production.
  • Keep abreast of developments (new processes, practices, technologies, methods, ways of working,) related to production equipment.

Personnel

  • Motivate, coach, mentor, and develop direct and indirect subordinates.
  • Manage subordinates to keep equipment in good working order, maintaining valid certification at all times.

Maintenance

  • Through the development, implementation, and assurance of an adequate Preventive Maintenance Program for mechanical and electrical equipment, ensure a safe and efficient operation, in compliance with the relevant standards;
  • Provide advice on necessary resources to enable preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with asset tagging and subsequent tracking of assets and associated certifications in company databases;
  • Allocate necessary resources (time, people, tools, spares) to enable Preventive Maintenance
  • Timely react to equipment breakdown to facilitate the earliest return of the equipment to service.
  • Encompasses the overall maintenance management;
  • Promote the reporting of equipment breakdowns, performs a detailed investigation on relevant equipment/material deficiencies and associated problems.
  • Follow the maintenance reports and review them regularly, highlights major issues to the attention of General Manager.
  • Manage the distribution of Alerts, Guidelines.
  • Build & secure records, PM status, etc.
  • Ensures that OEM spare is used for critical equipment.
  • Owns the Maintenance Procedures update process.
  • Participates in the site audits where necessary.
  • Prepare machinery major upgrade plans.
  • Keeps track of all equipment under repair in workshops;

Materials & Procurement

  • Assists the Materials Department in determining proper levels of stock based on current deliveries and average use.
  • Closely coordinate with the Business Support Manager with regards to procurement of spare parts.
  • Have an overview of inventories of spare assets, and inventory of equipment stored in the yard.
  • Uses his expertise and qualification to recommend equipment specification for purchase, transfer, retirement, spare asset.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor non-productive time for each machine;
    Lead the implementation of new maintenance strategies in order to improve uptime and longevity of company-owned equipment;

Skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Machine knowledge related to troubleshooting and material behavior
  • Good math and mechanical skills
  • Working knowledge of basic hydraulic/electric/pneumatic/vision systems
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted and work standing for 12 hours
  • Effective time management skills

Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience with relevant machines and secondary equipment.
  • Formal plastic process training such as scientific molding, Paulson, or equivalent preferred.
  • ISO or similar quality & safety system.
